Yesterday, I had the pleasure of returning to the Hawkeye State with the Gov. We have spent a lot of time here over the past year and it was great to be back. I know that it will be one of those states that will hold a special place in my heart.

Iowans came from all around to hear the Gov’s plan to create a smaller, simpler, smarter government for all Americans. Many Iowans are struggling in the Obama Economy and in these times of uncertainty with ever increasing debt, the Gov has called for getting our federal spending under control.

Today the Gov is taking his cut the spending message to Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida.

In just three and a half years, Barack Obama has broken all sorts of records. It took 43 presidents over 200 years to accumulate $6.3 trillion of debt held by the public. President Obama is on track to rack up almost that much in just one term.

Similarly, no president has ever presided over a $1 trillion budget deficit -- except President Obama who is on track to do so all four years of his term. His records of reckless spending should worry all Americans.

The Obama Administration’s reckless tax and spend policies have seemed to benefit mostly his campaign bundlers. What do we have to show for President Obama’s tenure in the White House? Record deficits, out-of-control spending, and nearly 23 million Americans who are unemployed, underemployed, or have flat out stopped looking for work.

This is the reason the President refuses to run on his record.  The President’s latest television ad, deemed unfair even by members of his own camp, is a desperate and distorted attempt to divert attention from the fact that zero net jobs have been created under his watch.

Unlike Barack Obama, Mitt Romney understands how free enterprise works, having spent his career in the private sector. Unlike career politicians who’ve never met a payroll, Mitt understands how jobs are created in the private sector. And unlike President Obama, Mitt Romney will cut spending, cut tax rates across the board for all Americans, and finally balance our budget.
